After a weekend of sewing and ripping, I finally think that I have designed a bed that I like!
Etta is the model because although the bed would fit Cessie better she wouldn’t cooperate.
I am loving the back– it is made from corduroy and has an envelope closure for easy washing:
The top is made from Alexander Henry “petits four” and it has a brown velvet ribbon sewn around the seam for added strength.
First I made the top half green velvet but my sewing could use some work. Three kinds of fabric all sewn together just blew my mind. The end product was a very interesting shape that only slightly resembled a square! I have a bad habit of over-complicating things and when I realized that I was doing that, I went with 2 fabrics and one ribbon. So much more simple, so much more beautiful.
Cessie fit perfectly on this size, but of course she wouldn’t corporate for photos! So miss Etta was kind enough to do me a favor — I really need to make the large size now so that she can fit on it!
I am so excited, tomorrow I have an appointment at a great gallery in town to see if I can get them to sell Mimi Green. I’ll let you know how it goes!
Very cute Amanda!!! Good job on the bed! It looks great! It’s also nice to see Etta! 😉
Good luck with your appointment. You have nothing to worry, you have such beautiful things!
